That certainly seems to be the general trend in this arena!
Over the last few weeks, we have watched several of the programs that we considered solid falter if not crash completely. In this category we place VascoInvestment, InvestPlace and Private Opps. The first two have not yet been declared yet, but there seems little doubt that they are among the walking dead

As always, there are some bright spots. In this business, if we focus on the negative, it will soon bring us down ourselves. When we become involved with ANY program, it is with the certainty that, sooner or later it will fail. The only question is whether we can profit before it does. In the case of InvestPlace and Vasco, we are well in profit. With Private Opps, we were not so lucky. On balance, we generally come out ahead because we follow some solid rules. You've probably heard them before, but they bear repeating here:

1. Do your due diligence, don't just 'follow the gold'
   
2. Never Risk money you can't afford to lose
   
3. Remember Higher returns generally mean higher risk
   
4. Don't get greedy, pull out your original spend as quickly as realistically possible

In the meantime, we will follow our rules above and hope to be well into profit by the time it does.

It is hard to believe that there are so many sad sacks on the Internet who have nothing better to do than to create problems for successful surfing and HYIP programs through DDOS (Distributed Denial Of Service)
and SPAM attacks.

For the uninitiated, DDOS attacks involve getting a whole array of computers (usually hi-jacked) and attacking a particular web server by sending thousands of concurrent requests. This either causes the server to crash or at very least occupies so much of the server's CPU power that it is no longer able to service its normal requests.

One of the things they can't access is the email addresses of all members, so that is why they haven't emailed us to tell us what is going on.

Yet Another GREAT program is forced into hiding...
Guardian International Travel has been forced to request that ALL members cease advertising over the Internet in any fashion whatsoever. This has obviously been caused by either members' or neerdowells' Spamming. The only sanctioned way to advertise now is by word of mouth......

We see this as both a positive and negative move. In reality, most of the best programs, at least those that survive, end up going private. We are fortunate to belong to a few that have done so. The longest running, we have been in since 2001 and it keeps on going paying us between 5-10% monthly. Not great returns in the HYIP world but imagine the growth we have seen in our account over 6 years. Contrast this with the one below:

We now have 2 withdrawals that Vasco says that they have paid to our e-Gold account. Neither has actually been received?! Although the site itself is still functioning, it appears that no-one is home and the same autopilot is at home that kept the IntGold site functioning for so long!

Since this is our first Pay4Surf blog update we will start by outlining our involvement in the autosurf industry. In 2003, when the earn for surfing craze was still in its infancy, we operated our own getpaid site for a few months before we decided that, from an admin point of view, it was too much work for too little return. Since that time, the surfing industry has had its ups and downs. Milestones were the rise and fall of Cashits, Studio Traffic and, most recently, the spectacular Super Nova of 12DailyPro and StormPay.

So, where are we today? Well, we have learned some valuable lessons.....

• Don't put all your eggs in one pay4surf basket (we currently use 4).
  
• Stay away from programs offering exorbitant returns (they can't be sustained).
  
• Try to use multiple payment processors.
  
• Withdraw profits as soon as possible (at least recoup your initial spend!).
  

As of April 24th, all four of our programs are paying, with the possible exception of SurfRapture where we have a payment that is almost 2 weeks overdue. The program admin, in his last message to membership claimed that this was due to a programming problem that he was, as yet, unable to solve.

Other Recent Events:

Alien Surf: They are moving forward with their move to Virtual Money debit cards for earnings withdrawal. This should be fully implemented by next week.

Phoenix Surf: Although the FastPay option has been a little slow, our last payments were received in 36 and 8 hours respectively.

I know that we have been strangely silent for the last few weeks but it was not due to lack of activity. We did take a
quick trip to Europe but otherwise have been busy trying out new things...

We didn't actually buy an ENTIRE company, just a small chunk of a larger network!

What on earth am I talking about, you may well ask?

I am sure that unless you have been like an ostrich with your head in the sand, you are aware of the VOIP revolution
that is taking place. A couple of years ago, I tried ip phone calls from my laptop when I was travelling and was
less than impressed. Based on previous experience, I stayed away from all the hoopla that has arisen lately.

However, with the bulk of my family being spread out 'across the pond', and the bulk of my business being in the US, you can imagine that my long distance bills were NOT getting any smaller. Then I came across a site that said that I
could not only talk for FRÉE with my overseas friends and family ip2ip, but I could also reduce my regular landline
long distance to a mere fraction of its current size. I thought that I would give it a try.....

Account setup was FRÉE and no special equipment was needed other than microphone and speakers. Software for
operation was also at no charge and VERY easy to configure. The REAL surprise came when I made my first call - to my own landline. My wife, (who didn't know I was calling from my computer), was totally oblivious to the fact that I was not calling from another POT (plain old telephone)! I have since had lengthy calls to various parts of the world and
the service has been without static or interruption. VOIP has indeed come a long way!

An additional benefit of this particular service, unlike most of the popular ones is that there is no setup fee and
no standing monthly charge. Calls to most countries are 2-3 cents per minute and even the more exotic locations like
Barbados, where our best previous rate was 38c/min is now just 12c/min. Of course, I have started getting my friends
and relatives to set up frée accounts also! That way, there is no charge for us to talk as long as we like.

Incidentally, you can also set up an incoming number in almost any country of your choice so that even on landlines,
incoming calls are frée for local users even though the call will be routed to your computer, wherever you happen
to be...
