In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is King!
The acronym HYIP has become so ingrained with many of us that we forget what it even stands for. High Yield Investment Programs are, for the most part, NOT what they APPEAR to be.
You might be better served if you think of them as LSRMGs -
Long-Shot Risky Money Games.

If we break the expression down, we see that it is principally made up of the words High-Yield and Investment. Well, firstly, a program is only High Yield if you ever get paid back MUCH more than you spend over a relatively short period of time. So it is NOT the published interest rate that counts, it is the liklihood that you will actually get paid.

Secondly, the word Investment implies that you are actually purchasing something or that there is something tangible that is being held as surety should something go wrong. Now, we all know that many programs boast GUARANTEES that your money is secure and that there are RESERVE funds in case of emergency etc... blah.. blah..

Those of us that have been in this arena KNOW that this is all just words. On the Internet, NOTHING is tangible. Even relatively long-standing and respected institutions like StormPay, EMO and IntGold can disappear in a flash taking your hard-earned cash with them.

So, is the message here ALL gloom and doom?

Not at all, we just want you to be MORE aware of what you are REALLY doing when you spend to a 'so-called' HYIP.

Beware Cookie-Cutter HYIP Sites
First off, be aware that just about anyone can buy a HYIP script and set it up within a couple of hours ready to fleece unsuspecting punters. If the site looks just like one of the 'run-of-the-mill' sites, it probably is not trustworthy. Some scam artists don't even take the trouble to change the words that come in their cheap script. The minute you see that their program is 'backed by real world investments, forex trading' and other such nonsense, you should beware!

Do-Do Diligence (sic)
Next, You will often be told by so-called experts to be sure to do your due diligence. What DOES this mean exactly?
Documents and testimonials can be falsified, so most of this is meaningless. Personally, I use certain mailing lists and forums to get the 'pulse' of a programme that I am thinking of 'investing' in. I don't care about credentials as much as knowing that the program has momentum. I want to get in on the upswing not the down....

Don't Invest for the Long-Term

Duelling Payment Processors?

The battle of the Debit cards?

Phoenix Surf and Alien Trust are, without doubt two of the
leading Pay4Surf sites at this time. They are currently
locked in battle over their respective VirtualMoney debit cards.

It seems that, to date, approximately 25 surfing sites have chosen the Virtual Money card as a potential solution for the dependence on payment processors and e-currency exchangers. Phoenix Surf and Alien Trust just happen to be the biggest and most successful at this time.

The contention has arisen because Phoenix Surf has elected NOT to accept VM cards from other suppliers as means of spending to their program. Alien Trust, on the other hand, says that it will accept ANY VM card. Talk on various forums and boards would seem to indicate that Phoenix Surf MAY be on a sticky wicket here and we would not be surprise to see Virtual Money step in here and force the issue, since refusing ANY VM card MAY be against their terms of service.

Which Payment Processor?
It seems that since the demise of INtGold, EMO, AutoSurfMoney and the downfall of StormPay, there has been no single player that has been able to step up to the plate and hit a home run.

GreenZap:
Just made an announcement that they are in discussions with a very large company to roll out a FULL payment processor solution to rival PayPal. This is definitely one to keep an eye on and getting in early may be of some benefit.

AlertPay:
A Canadian company that has extended its memberbase considerably in recent times. Although they do offer to exchange to and from e-currencies, they often do not have sufficient reserves to carry through. Nevertheless, especially in the autosurf arena, AlertPay is becoming a major player.

SafePay:
SafePay is the other payment processor that has grown in both size and reputation since the demise of those mentioned above. Their rates are low and, thus far, they have proven to be efficient and reliable.

You'd better do the math.....
Many of the current spate of pay4surf programs are messing with your mind at best and downright misleading you at worst!

It's so easy to let one's greed do the thinking and it sounds SO feasible that we just jump in head first without REALLY thinking things through. Let's give you an example:

One very well promoted pay4surf program offers 24% Daily for 6 days. Well cursory math tells you that you will make 144% at the end. This would amount to 44%/6 = 7.33% daily. Remember that 100% was your money to start with...

The above would actually only hold true IF you were paid out the day that your surfing spend expired. This is almost NEVER the case. In the example above, the small print tells you that your expired spend will be paid out within 7 business days. When you factor in the week-ends, this will amount to 9-11 REAL days (the only ones YOU care about)! For sake of argument, we will split the difference and say that the average is 10 days. Now, if we calculate your REAL profit, we find 44%/16 = 2.66% Not nearly as good as you thought, huh? YOUR money is tied up inactive for 10 days.....

So, what you believed to be the best paying pay4surf may rank entirely differently when you do the calculation of your ACTUAL profit once you have been FNALLY paid out.

So here are our Top Picks based on this new information:

1. Phoenix Surf: Pays 15% for 8days. Guarantees payout within 5 business days. However, for a varying fee, you can get paid out within 48 hours (NOT 2 BUSINESS DAYS). Often, the payout is made the SAME business day of expiry, which means you have the opportunity to re-invest some or all of your profit. If you compound 'to the max', you may be able to 'turn' your money up to 4 times in a month. After fasttrack fees are deducted, you can still make up to 60% per month.
   
   Another plus to PhoenixSurf is the fact that it is opearted by NME Global, which has other successful ventures. This makes the likelihood of premature failure MUCH less. Also, a large membership base further ensures longevity.
