Just 24 hours after we said that 13DP was solid and growing, they announced that they were shutting down the program. At least the justification they gave sounded plausible and they did not try to blame the situation on falling gold prices. Neveretheless, it DID highlight the fact that 13DP like so many others IS DEPENDENT ON INCOMING SPENDS TO PAY ITS MEMBERS! Take with a grain of salt any claims to the contrary! Like so many others that have gone before, 13DP claims that there will be refunds. Send us an IM when you see the pigs fly by


FortuneSurf
This is a much smaller program and will affect fewer surfers. There were signs of trouble last month when there were no payouts and all earnings were rolled over. Still, this had been a stable program for some months now and we are sorry, if not surprised to see it go!


SurfTenDaily
We do not wish to be alarmist and SurfTenDaily still appears to be operating normally. However, we have had a glitch in our account and support emails have gone unanswered. A previously PERFECT payout record has now been spoiled by an expired upgrade 4 days overdue. DO the math and make your own conclusions.....


NowDollar
This program is fast becoming one of our favourites! We have received fast payment to both e-Gold and Virtual Money accounts.

They have now announced that for the summer months they are switching to plan where upgrades last for 15 days surfed, even if it takes you 30 days to do it! This is a bold move but not really useful to many unless NowDollar is the ONLY autosurf program that you are in!

Still, it is a POSITIVE move and makes one think that at least the program is not about to fold


Surf4DailyCash
If you are looking for an extra program to spread your risk, you could do much worse than S4DC! Go in with at least $100 and you can withdraw DAILY, provided that you remember to vote on the ratings sites as requested. We have gradually increased our spends here and are currently at the $300 mark. We withdraw everytime $100+ accumulates.


Choice Surf
We have followed Clay through thick and thin! He made an announcement today that he was temporarily suspending the higher paying accounts and dropping ALL members back to 20% over 15 days. In light of all the happenings above, this is probably a GOOD move and bodes well for the survival of his program. He IS a fighter and you could do much worse than shifting some of your resources into ChoiceSurf. As you can see, the higher paying programs are not faring any better than the lower ones..

Our Conclusion:
At this time, I would not be concentrating significant amounts of capital in ANY single program. The autosurf industry is NOT going to disappear overnight and if you are careful, there is still a great opportunity to earn some relatively quick short-term cash. Let me give you a brief history of some of the cataclysmic events of my Internet career:

• - 1998 -> ISP account revoked when a co-worker reported one of my messages as SPAM
  
• - 2001 -> 50% of my portfolio lost in OsGold collapse
  
• - 2003 & 2006 -> Total server rebuilds due to hard-drive crashes
  
• - 2003 -> PayPal account closed without warning or reason given (represented 95% of my current income)
  
• - 2006 -> $15K+ lost in StormPay, 12DP, IntGold and EMO collapse
  

So, now you know why the icon that appears in the address bar of all of our network sites is a Phoenix: It, too, rises from the ashes.

We have learned to roll with the punches and now finally feel a little more secure than we have ever been. The secret lies in the fact that we are now less exposed to any single catastrophic event like those listed in our recent past.

4. Affiliate Marketing: Although it is no longer a substantial portion of our income, we still generate income through standard Internet Marketing (ie. ClickBank) and referral programs.

FFA and Site Submission are things of the past!

When we first started out in Internet Marketing way back in 1998, getting your site or affiliate page on as many possible pages ANY WAY that you could was an acceptable method of increasing traffic and sales. By continually having three or four machines cranking out FFA posts and classified ads, we got our site into the Top 1,000 sites and our ClickBank product into the Top 5 best sellers.

Dont try that today, it just plain doesnt work anymore....

Then came the groups and safelist craze! Due to the continual dangers of SPAM, e-mail marketing was and remains a very dangerous way to market your product or opportunity. Just a couple of years ago, we were sending daily messages to literally hundreds of safelists and groups. For a while, this worked too. Today, most of these lists and groups are defunct. People just couldnt keep up with the mass of e-mail that resulted from being member of ALL of them and so both the interest and effectiveness waned. One of the biggest problems was that there were always more advertisers than readers....

And then there were the banner exchanges and an entire subculture of classified ads. I suppose that they had their place too but we NEVER really had much success with them.

So what works today?

If we have discovered anything in the last 7 years, it is that you MUST continually change, adapt and re-invent yourself and your product to be successful. Todays hot ticket is tomorrows dud This may sound depressing, but for us, it is exactly what makes Internet Marketing an exciting and vibrant community. We are continually investigating new trends and promotional tools.

There is and always will be a constant: Targetted Traffic

This is perhaps why Google has become so successful. They have found a way to match consumers and advertisers in a profitable way. Pay-per-click has become perhaps the most pervasive method of Internet advertising in 2006. Also, learning enough to make your page(s) and offers search engine friendly is certainly a huge step forward. It never ceases to amaze us how many people, even professionals, just throw up pages and sites without even setting up basic metatags.

Of course, the best targetted traffic comes when you are able to develop your own mailing list. This doesnt happen overnight but if you persist it can be one of the most financially and professionally rewarding things that you can do. Many e-books, reports and articles have been written about how to develop a list and we are not going to attempt to cover this topic in depth here. Now, do not get me wrong, we were actually in profit when both programs went under. However, we had VERY large accounts in both and therefore, much of our potential profits were lost....

So, we now have established some ground rules for ourselves to help to keep profits at a maximum and losses to a minimum.

• Rule #1: We will try to find the best 5 programs and be approximately equally invested in all 5.
  
  
• Rule #2: We will never start with less than $100 or more than $500 in any single program. (Less than $100 is not worthwhile, more than $500 is too much at risk)
  
  
• Rule #3: Once our capital hits $1,000 we will spread profits to other programs.
  
  
• Rule #4: At every payout, we will reinvest 50% of the profit (until we reach the $1000 level) and withdraw the

We are FINALLY Back!!!

Most every cloud has a SILVER lining, even though you may have to look VERY hard to find it!

When our server crashed late in May, we knew that it would take us some time to get back up and running. Well, we also took the time to upgrade our systems and also to take some time out (vacation in Barbados)! Hence the somewhat lengthy gap between updates.

You may also note some other cosmetic changes to sites and URLs. The bulk of our hosting has now been switched to Charlotte NC, from Ottawa ON. (We have not moved ourselves)
