The problem is: They ALL do it! And it's getting worse all the time.



Example: A current popular program offers you 150% of your spend after 10 days. You do the math and say 5% profit per day, a good deal, so you put down your money! After 10 days, your spend expires and you check your account. Sure enough the stats show a payment of 150% PENDING!

Now this is where the problem sets in. Every day that your money sits as PENDING in that program, your rate of return is being eroded!. We must admit that programs are VERY inventive at coming up with excuses as to why YOUR particular payment has not been or cannot be made. Nevertheless, the final result is that your REAL rate of return is often a LOT less than you were quoted on the site.

We currently have a small spend tied up in ProfitSwinger. They supposedly offer 50% after 10 days. However, our spend placed on the 10th July is STILL not paid out. By the 30th July, our REAL return will be only 50% of the advertised rate. By reading in forums, it seems that we WILL eventually receive our money, but it certainly makes financial planning very inexact. It is also VERY hard to make fair comparisons between competing programs.

If the above were an isolated incident, we would not take exception. However, we currently have literally thousands of dollars tied up in 'Pending payments' from MANY different programs - autosurfs, HYIPs, referral payments, commissions etc. Even our trusty FeederFund program recently announced that members must now wait 60 Days for withdrawals to be processed!

There are, thankfully, currently some exceptions to the rule. We just hope that we don't jinx them by mentioning them here!
It is AMAZING! After reviewing our ENTIRE portfolio of about 25 programs in all, we could only find 3 that consistently paid within the terms that they specify.

NowDollar:
Recently described as the #1 Autosurf program has paid us like clockwork for the last 5 weeks, ALWAYS within 48 hours of request (weekly on Fridays - deposited to our VM card by Sunday)

egoldRevolution:
Last 5 payout requests ALL processed within 48 hours (even on weekends) And this one's been doing it for 2+ years......

Private Program:
Last 5 monthly payments ALL received as advertised - (name withheld by request) follow link for details. This is one of the most solid programs in our portfolio. Unfortunately, the relatively high entry fee puts many off. However, few complain about the consistent monthly cheques...


The Lesson to be Learned:

• Don't take ANY programs payout claims at face value! Check forums and rating sites for REAL history.
  
  
• Always allow some leeway for ALL payments to be at least a couple of days late. If it comes in earlier, that's a BONUS but don't get caught desperately in need of a payment that doesn't come.

AlienTrust has also been sold, quite likely to the same company!
So what?!

Here's our 2 cent's worth....

These two events will almost certainly forever change the face of the autosurf industry.

Why? Principally because the current model simply isn't working.. It cannot work, It is simply built on an unsound business model! Below is a portion of the message sent to AlertPayPro members within the last 24 hours:

The first topic to address, every current autosurf business model is flawed. Having a set percentage for affiliate earnings is this flaw. Unless autosurfs correct this flaw they will fail. As you may have noticed the maximum lifespan of an autosurf is approx 6 months, this is because paying a set percentage will cause the autosurf to instantly run in the red upon opening its doors. Selling a $5 advertising package will result in the owner paying $7.50 back. A $2.50 in the red from the first sale. A company can not operate in the red for long especially a company which sells their first item and is instantly in the red. Unless the company itself is making money it will eventually consume itself. Autosurfing could be the next major form of advertising for brand name companies. The potential is huge if the industry changes to a true affiliate and advertising network.

We largely agree with the above statement except that it ignores the claim, made by many pay4surfs, that they have external sources of funding. Harrolds Media make no secret that the reason that they are actually paying for surfing sites admittedly in trouble is that they want access to the membership base with money to spend. That IS the value of the surfing site and SOME (admittedly very few), have found a way to parlay that base into positive cashflow territory. StudioTraffic was the frontrunner in this area. Even though it eventually failed, it was due to poor decisions and management errors, NOT a flawed business model. Let's not forget that it ran for well over two years (4X the six months quoted by Harrolds)

What is for sure is that this revelation makes clear how tenuous the position of ALL existing autosurfs really is. Even those that genuinely have external funding sources are still dependent on new ongoing business (spends) for their very survival.

The new owners go on to explain how they have a NEW model that is superior to the old and will be the saviour of the industry:

How an autosurf should be run:
1. Take the amount of advertising dollars from the previous day. Divide that total among the number of advertising packages in circulation (subtract 5% for the administration.) That total will give the value of each advertising packages for that days surfing. ie. $10000 in advertising purchases comes in on a given day. There are currently 9000 advertising packages in circulation. $10000 divided by 9000 = $1.11 - 5% = $1.06 per advertising package. This is what each affiliate/advertiser will earn per advertising package that they own for surfing that day. So if an affiliate owns 1 advertising package they would have earned $1.06 for surfing that day. If they owned 10 advertising packages they would have earned $1.06 X 10 = $10.60 for surfing that day.

2. If an advertising package has a number of days limit then you may earn too much or too little by the time it expires. So advertising packages must have a dollar amount as the expiration date. Each advertising package will expire only after you have earned $7.50 from the $5.00 advertising package. Each individual advertising package will remain active until it has earned $2.50 PROFIT.

Harrolds Media is very magnanimously offering to single-handedly save the ENTIRE industry :

AlertPayPro is now under this new earnings system. This may take us up to three weeks to complete, we estimate much less time but we will not cross ourselves as the previous managment has by giving a date and not meeting it. We have also purchased another (most consider #1) autosurf and will be implementing the new model on that one as well. While we are willing to help other owners move/transition to the new system, we will not answer queries regarding this. Once all is completed on both of the new sites we have acquired we will then offer the new system on the open market.

Take notes, the autosurf industry is changing.

Harrolds Media Inc.,

To say that this message has stirred up a hornet's nest in various forums is to put things mildly. Pandora's box has definitely been opened. Here is a quote from Lance Barron, the owner of NowDollar, who has been implicated by some in nefarious ways of being a key participant in Harrolds Media:

#1. I do not have anything to do with the operations of Harrolds Media INC. However, I do know the owner and have visited with him several time by phone. Our programming staff has also worked very close with his staff in development of a revolutionary advertising script.

#2. We have not missed a pay day in the 5+ months we have been in operation.

#3. The purchase of the NowDollar Program: We were in talks with Harrolds Media INC. about the purchase of all rights to the NowDollar Program. The mission of Harolds Media INC. was to purchase surf programs that were struggling and implement a business model that is profitable. Is short, they were looking to try and save the surfing industry. Because of the events of last night and today, Harrolds Media INC. is now backing away from this mission. I reviewed the business model, and it is sound. We will be adding this business model to our program in the future.

It is too early to say how this will all play out. It IS clear that thunderclouds are forming and there will be fewer players left standing when it is all over. There was never a better time to re-evaluate YOUR personal position in all this. You might want to examine some of the options that are NOT autosurf related

For our part, we are not ready to dismiss the ENTIRE industry! There is one glaring problem with this new scheme! It doesn't even begin to address the problem of being totally dependent on new incoming funds for outgoing payments. Sure, it does mean that programs will no longer have to pay out more than they take in, but most of them don't do this anyway, since you can't get blood from a stone and most admins do not put their own funds at risk. This is, in fact, the main reason that so many programs are stalled right now...

It does also mean that rates of return will likely be reduced. The problem will likely be compounded for existing programs like APP, AT and ND because members are not going to put in new money until things start to happen. Things won't start to happen until existing members put more money in....

Well, it seems that 'too much negativity' frightened Harrolds Media away. In a public apology, they retracted their offer to singlehandely save the autosurf industry! .

Of course, it IS true that some MAJOR players have crashed and taken a LOT of people's money with them. Still, there ARE some programs that have both been around a while AND are not the normal same old same old.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the majority of HYIP programs, in spite of their protestations to the contrary, do not really invest your money at all. They simply take new money to pay off older spends and skim off the top. As soon as incoming funds can no longer keep up with maturing spends, the program closes and the owners abscond with a heap of cash....


It is our conviction that NONE of the following programs fits this mould described above. Of course, that doesn't guarantee that they will be around forever either.

Of course, InvestPlace has had a bit of a checkered history, but how many of the current plethora of HYIP programs can boast that they are at least 1 year old. That fact alone puts Investplace above the crowd.

In addition, although WAY more than you could get at your local bank, rates of return offered in the various investment options are not beyond the realm of believability as many others are. With terms ranging from 9% for one month to 33% monthly for one year, there is also a wide range of interest rates available.

This is our second program that has been around over 12 months (over 24 in fact). Once again, the key here is that they are not offering wild interest rates and thus do not attract huge throngs of members. The members that they do have tend to stick with the program and allow their account to build slowly.

Our own account will be one year old in just a few weeks. Frankly, it is having accounts with programs like this one that just keeps on ticking that keeps our morale up when the 'big' ones go down. We continually take a portion of our profits from the riskier ventures and move them into lower paying but safer programmes like EGR.

Global Online Depository:
Although the June promotion where they were offering a 25% bonus on deposits over $500 has now come to an end, this programme still deserves a good look. Even though many HYIPs CLAIM to have a real bricks and mortar business to generate income and 'guarantee' users' deposits, G.O.D. has a verifiable online presence that you can SEE for yourself.

Like all the programs listed here so far, Global does not offer inflated rates of return. There are several options available depending on the amount of deposit. Although we have only been a member for a couple of months, the HYIP portion of this program has been online since October 2005.

It may seem that this program is the 'odd man out' and to some degree this is true. Firstly, the program has only been around a short while. Secondly, it offers a fairly high rate of return - 50% after just 10 days. Thirdly, we have only been in long enough to have our 1st spend mature.

We consider this a high-risk venture! However, we set aside about 15% of our total portfolio to invest in just this type of program. As you may well know if you follow HYIPs like this one, many of them last several months and with a low cycle time and high interest rate, it only takes twenty days for you to recoup your original spend and then build with profits.

Fantastic Pay:
If you are one of those who have been waiting for FantasticPay to re-open to new members, I'm afraid that you are going to have to wait just a few days more. Much is currently going on behind the scenes to be able to start monthly payouts to existing members.

Apparently, the real estate transactions that actually supply the cash for payouts have already begun and everything is in place except the final tweaks on the software. The second project (sold out), the IT center in Romania seems to be doing extremely well and about to turn a profit.

How do you tell the good from the bad?

Many people are beginning to ask themselves:
"Can you REALLY make money in this crazy business, or are ALL programs doomed to failure?!"

The answer, of course, is YES (you CAN make money) and YES (ALL programs ARE doomed to failure from the outset!)

This might seem like a contradiction in terms but it really is not.

First, let's go through our list and see what happened this week:

ChoiceSurf: After dire warnings about closing the site on Monday if things did not improve, Clay, the admin, has been silent. We suspect that he has taken a leaf out of SurfTenDaily's playbook and will simply let the site stay on autopilot but simply making no payouts....

Surf4DailyCash: Decidely fell from grace this week. Their e-Gold account was value limited (restricted) and e-Gold flatly refused to remove the restriction. the Admin used this as an excuse to cancel ALL outstanding e-Gold spends and pending payouts and intends to continue with only AlertPay as an option. It is hard to believe that the program will survive with such a restricted base even if angry members are not able to bring the program down as they are vowing to do!

Well, it seems that we were prophetic. Since beginning to write this update on Friday, the site has been erased from the server. Info in various forums would seem to suggest that the admin resides in Pakistan. Once again, there are a few angry souls demanding their pound of flesh, but really, this is all part of the business!

P.S. BEWARE - Now it seems that there is a phishing site that has been put up on the .net domain and traffic from the old site is being redirected there. more details at:

Alien Trust: We have now gone two complete cycles (26 days) without receiving a payout. Vince claims to have a buyer for the site who will continue the program. However, the longer it goes without real news, the less likely it is to ever happen. Every day, potential payouts increase and we are pretty sure that there are no new spends entering the system.

Vince has already admitted that he did not have the money to make payouts. It is hard to believe that any smart business would take over a lame duck and agree to pay its debts. More likely, it would simply erase the debts and blame it on the previous owner/management and try to start out fresh whilst retaining the bulk of the membership. There is talk in forums that payouts will resume, in some fashion, early in the week! Here too, we will just have to wait and see!

Now on to the brighter spots:

12by12 Daily: The program WAS hit by problems and still has a notice on their site saying that high traffic volumes are causing server problems. However, we have been able to surf normally for the last 2 days and the program is still growing in leaps and bounds (now well over 10K members). It's still only just over a week old and still looks like it has the potential to do great things to restore some confidence in an arena where confidence is sorely needed.

Although we warn against EVER risking money that you cannot afford to lose, the timing is definitely right to take advantage of the next stage in 12by12's development. Like ALL autosurfs that have gone before it, this too will EVENTUALLY fail but all the signs currently point to this one suraviving and thriving for some time to come....

Money-MakesMoney-Surf: They also had problems of hacked accounts and sites and when they changed scripts for security reasons, they ran into a packet of other problems. These seem, for the most part, to be sorted and there are numerous reports of members getting their payments as due. Once again, this is a new and promising program that is not (yet) tainted!

It seems that the M3-Surf site owners, in a move that is becoming quite popular, want to set the counter back to zero. They say that they will refund spends prior to the server/script change from admin fees.
Below is a quote from the admin posted today in their forum:

Wrapping up, M3-Surf is here to stay. We are moving forward with our original intent, to create a real business with real income that can last. We are not treating this as some game where you roll the dice and cross your fingers.

Businesses come across bad luck, bad management, bad employees everyday. What makes the difference to survival is the way they respond to challenges. We are responding with another re-bound.

Would YOU climb aboard THIS sinking ship?!

We received a note of desperation from an exasperated Pay4Surf admin a few hours ago that we found to be indicative of what is happening and much of what is wrong with the autosurf industry.

We read the update over completely several times before we came to any conclusions. Here is how the message opened:

The membership count and upgrade level have both declined rather than increased. I can't describe how disappointed I am with this. For the past 2 or 3 weeks we have been averaging 7 upgrades a day and the majority of them are for only $5. This shows a serious lack of interest or faith in ChoiceSurf.

If the purpose of this message was to rally the troops, this was a poor way to start off, by telling us that it is half dead already.....

The message continues:

Have you ever heard of an Autosurf that paid out more than what came in from upgrades? Well that is the case for ChoiceSurf. I have paid out $74,000 with only $59,500 coming in. I managed to do this by investing the money and using the earnings to pay the difference.

Well, we can't speak for our readers and members, but this is EXACTLY what we thought a LEGITIMATE, NON-PONZI surfing program is SUPPOSED to do. Obviously any program that ALWAYS needs more funds coming in from new spends than it pays out is DOOMED to failure.

The math tells us that a program that offers 120% over 15 days would eventually need to outsource $20K for every $100K in spends. Or are we the crazy ones?

Now, wait for the sucker punch:

I'm going to hold all pending payouts and give this until Monday. I wish I could give it more time but I simply cannot afford to. If things don't improve drastically over the weekend I will be forced to shut ChoiceSurf down. Those are words I never wanted to have to say.(Ed. NOR SHOULD HE HAVE!!!)

Let us translate:

"I (the admin), don't really think things will improve! I don't believe in my membership so I am going to stop paying you. In the meantime, IF YOU can produce a miracle in 4 days, the program will be saved and you will get your money."

It's really quite incredible that an intelligent businessman would send this kind of message unless he had a deathwish. Let us get this straight: You are going to hold OUR money hostage and you want us not only to pony up more in the meantime BUT ALSO tell our friends and contacts that they should put their money into a lame duck!?

And now the Coup de Grace:

I have worked very hard to build ChoiceSurf up and try to make it one of the best paid to surf sites out there. My efforts just aren't paying off and most of our members are showing no interest at all.

If you want to keep ChoiceSurf alive you can do your part by promoting it heavily and actively participating yourself. You'll have to show me you want ChoiceSurf around for a while.

Translation: "I absolve myself of all blame, it was not my business model or program at fault, I simply attracted a lousy membership base ;( I am now going to sit and wait for a miracle and if it doesn't happen within 4 days, I'll pack it in and keep your money!"

There is one last comment from the middle of the message that we left until last because it shows an interesting mindset and throws light on yet another incestuous aspect of this industry (house of cards):

I'm almost convinced that this autosurf business has seen its day. I lost $5000 to 13dp and now it looks like 24dp has stopped paying out too. This is just the tip of the iceberg lately, as you all know.

So, most, if not all, of the outside funds to pay members were coming from other AutoSurfs! Just like dominoes, when they start to fail, they take others with them. Neither this admin or any other, actually told members that this was their strategy to keep their program afloat! If this is the way that MOST surfing programs generate their funds then Clay is probably right and we should run for the hills.

Our final note is simply this! We hope for ChoiceSurf and its members' sakes, (WE are one, currently owed $750 and had just respent two hours before receiving this message), that the miracle happens.
We all know that it won't after a message like this......

The ultimate truth is that the industry is still vibrant! There will be winners and losers as always. The phenomenal launch of 12by12 Daily recently stands as testament to this. There will still be some BIG programs failing in the near future and they will be replaced by yet others. If you play the game correctly (we were still a NET winner in ChoiceSurf), you can win too! Our Recommended Pay4Surf Page still provides ample opportunity for profit.

The BOTTOM Line (And how to protect it!)
We have been in this business for quite a while now. We had several thousand in CasHits, the first really big autosurf. We had a $20K+ account level in StudioTraffic. We have always, and will continue to use autosurf as a tool to generate short-term income. However, if you visit our Recommended progams Page, and, take the time to READ carefully the message that it sends, Pay4Surf should only be a SMALL part of a diversified portfolio. Many people become desperate when an autosurf fails because they have become dependent on it. This was the same lesson learned by MANY stockholders when they became too enamoured of the sexy hi-tech stocks a few short years ago!

Listen, life on the Internet is a microcosm of life in general: It has its ups and downs and over a period of time, you will experience them ALL. What sorts the winners from the losers is HOW you react to them!

In the forum of Money-MakesMoney-Surf a new autosurf that is undergoing some major challenges (and seemingly coming out on top!), I read where the Admin felt that the program had expunged all its bad karma and that the worst was over. Their ISP blocked their account at PayPal's request, their e-Gold accounts were hacked etc.

Hopefully, she (the admin) is right and things will go better from here on in. However, what has impressed me was the reaction to these crises in an arena where many (if not most), cut and run with the money at the least sign of trouble. This program has not only stayed the course, they have dipped into their own pockets AND come up with an innovative plan which insulates the membership from the negative effects, while the program rebuilds itself.

We could have believed that bad karma or gremlins were at work ourselves this week!

When we woke up one morning, we discovered that ALL email accounts and webservers (at our main hosting company in Charlotte, NC) went offline sometime during the night...

We attempted to contact web support from our host and found that they too were inaccessible. We checked another couple of sites hosted at the same company... They were also gone. We waited a couple of hours, still no sign.

It didn't seem likely that an entire company could disappear off the map so we tried pinging. No response... We then tried pinging through an online service and doing a route trace. EVERYTHING WAS THERE AND RESPONDING!!?? I called my spouse and had her check from her office. They were all inaccessible for her also....

We then tried a last resort and shut down our high-speed connection and activated our emergency AOL dial-up account. Lo and behold, everything was now there and accessible. GO FIGURE!

After limping along on dial-up for a couple of hours, all services suddenly reappeared on our high-speed ISP account. NO rhyme, reason or explanation, just another of life's wonders.. The key thing was we didn't let it get us down!

We're not going to let this weeks HYIP nightmares get us down either!

SolidInvestment: True to form for the industry and according to the predictions of most, the SolidInvestment site finally disappeared yesterday leaving owing many thousand investors many MILLIONS of dollars! Like many others, we lost too, but only $350 and only because we didn't stick to our own advice and allowed our funds to be switched to the 'Special (read: too good to be true) Fund'.

It is quite sad when a program that has been around for 18 months finally disappears, but WE are not ready at that point to start yelling the 'S' word. Many made a great deal of money in this program and others like it. Moreover, all except the Ostriches knew the risks they were taking.Only lost $20 here which we really consider as break-even...

InvestPlace: Another bright spot in an otherwise lacklustre arena, IP has bounced back after licking its wounds from the February triple bombshell unleashed by IntGold, StormPay and EMO. SolidInvestment recently announced the expiry of our 'Special Plan' investment. We started out with $350 some four months ago and it has reputedly grown into $2500+. Today, we requested payout of the full amount. We were informed that we would be paid within 7 days....

The jury is definitely still out on this one. Literally thousand are making withdrawal requests as you read this. Many millions are due and it is hard indeed to believe that this will become a reality. Still, the site is still there, accepting payments, new members and making daily payouts to regular plan members...

We have removed SI from our sites and lists until we know for sure.....


Picking Winners - How do we?

Of course, the short answer is that we DON'T always! Nevertheless, we pick way more winners than losers. And, when we DO lose, we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and just get back on the horse. It's a long distance run, NOT a sprint!

So, having removed SI from our lists (temporarily, at least), we are now replacing it with:

This program is NOT new. It has been around since the beginning of 2005 and has developed a reasonable following. It is well ranked on various forums and monitoring sites. It offers 2.1% - 2.9% return for 100 business days depending on your spend level. After 100 days the principal is returned to your account for withdrawal or reinvestment. You can also choose to compound your interest at various levels. In our humble opinion, you should not compound at more than 50% until you have withdrawn an amount equal to your principal.

InvestPlace: A blast from the past - Something old with not much new!
This program resurfaced today with an e-mail from the program admin stating that the program was starting with a clean slate. It seems that all previous accounts are to be considered lost unless something miraculous happens and restitution is made by the processors that are accused of causing the old program to fail (IntGold, StormPay & EMO).
We tried to log into our account to see what its status was only to find that the site was up to its old tricks and wouldn't load for us.....

Well, now its official (kind of)! As much as anything can be for certain in the autosurf netherworld.

• SurfTenDaily has been silent for over 10 days... No payouts made and no response from the site admin. Although the site is still functioning normally, it's safe to say that the site is gone...
  
  
• 13DailyPro (.net) is NOT gone but the 'old' program has halted and the new taken over. There is MUCH discussion in forums about how serious 13DP is about making good on its promises to slowly refund 'old' members. We are simply going to carry on as if it WON'T happen and will get a nice surprise if it does.
  
  
• FortuneSurf is DEFINITELY gone. We didn't lose a lot but were sorry to see it go. Unfortunately, many of the smaller pay4surfs are closing up shop. It is just too hard for them to compete with the juggernauts which are nevertheless, just as likely to fail!
  

And then there were five!

Money-MakesMoney-Surf is our latest addition to our Recommended Pay4Surf Page. It's new (we're member #472), officially still in pre-launch it seems!. Of course, as always, there are no guarantees. However, reading the site forum before signing up made me feel secure that the program will last long enough for me (and you) to make some profit.
